Lenny Williams

Lenny Williams has composed music for hundreds of documentary films and more than a thousand hours of broadcast television.

He has won six News and Documentary Emmy Awards and has been nominated eleven times in the category of Outstanding Achievement in a Craft: Music and Sound.

Since 1995 he has worked extensively with National Geographic Television and Film, the Discovery Channel, PBS, and CNN. He has won five BMI Awards and performed on two Granny award-winning recordings. He has also won a Teton Award at the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival 2007 for Outstanding Musical Score, and won a Panda Award for Best Music in 2008 from Wildscreen. In Addition, Williams has been a full time pianist with the D.C.-based political satire group, ‘The Capital Steps’ since 1993.

From 1988 to 1996 he was the pianist for the late Eva Cassidy, who posthumous recordings have sold over 12 million copies worldwide. In 2006, he co-produced the CD, ‘My Life’ for vocalist Grace Griffith, and it won the Album of the Year award from the Washington DC Area Music Association.
